after several quiescent-from-illustration years, i spent days on a flyer for t4t4infinity and produced what is probably the best original illustration i’ve ever done. how do you birth your new self as it rends your old self apart? with love.

i had cautiously produced only one flyer ever previously, for t4t4infinity’s samhain renegade, and F. asked if i would do one for the next planned renegade. because i given a prompt by one of the collective members i had months to develop a really strong concept.

i felt that the prompt was exploring the same questions i had about my own transness at the time, so i thought about the composition of this illustration for hours a day (and previously had been thinking of doing a larger-scale painting that was less palatable (read: more abject-suffering and less sexy-bunnygirls) to unearth my feelings on that).

ultimately that planned piece became this piece: the old self facilitates the birth of the new self, which rends the old self beyond repair; new growth springs from that destruction.
