Duo Russian Test

Last night we worked on this duo move where the base is sitting and the flyer does a Russian split. Some findings: foot placement is key (the reason I come out so fast here is that I feel like the shirt is sliding) need to grab spansets to increase the “distance” between base’s chest (aka the bottom of the hoop) and the flyer’s arms base needs to start from horizontal and sit up, following the flyer (this way you’ll get a more horizontal split and also the flyer can push against a “vertical” surface)

Magnitude 2025

Myles invited me to perform for the rigging component of Magnitude 2025 (a Folsom circuit party on Saturday evening). Rigging The venue was SVN West. We had some issues with rigging (the heights were not ideal, and we had some cross-talk between the chains and the hoop that meant the chains hit the hoop spanset a bit when spinning even when the hoop was pulled out of the way, and because we tried to set the hoop as far away from the chains as possible, it was slightly too close to the (already too-close) gogo stage behind us, which meant that we clipped it at full extension). ...

Aerial Choreography Notation project

Early experiment of gif notation for ~30s of a duo act. By contrast, a verbal description of the 6 panels above would be: mirrored frog squat and catchers, transition to back balance, roll to duo right meathook, R pikes over the bar and M left leg hooks and climbs, duo split to left-knee catch, dévelopée out for duo bell beat prep. ...

"dearly undeparted", duo aerial hoop act in the "weddings and funerals" twisted windows show

myles and i performed our duo act at spire the church thanks to a show production via twisted windows; the most fleshed-out narrative we’ve ever had for this show (flesh husband attempts to resurrect ghost husband in a séance, set to seven devils). it was my first time performing with twisted windows and i thought it was run very well; we were the last act and the audience was really hyped for our performance. i wish i could have networked a bit more but i was so exhausted after being there for 6 hours (i basically showed up and tech rehearsal and stayed in the cold and cramped greenroom all night). ...

Duo Based Back Balance

This move I (as a base) always think of as “grab the butt”. It’s a bit sensitive to the fabric worn by the flyer (too slippery = worse, and we first got this move by wearing leather shorts which were quite easy to hold).

fleshghost virtual performance for e-go

[finally uploading this after finding it hard to post on streaming services due to music copyright] this was a duo act myles and i put together during the pandemic for a virtual show called “e-go”, which was one of pseuda’s projects during their curatorial residency at counterpulse and ultimately streamed as a special presentation by princess (a drag night at oasis). we knew from the outset that it would be streamed virtually and choreographed it as such – mid-pandemic i had approached myles asking if he wanted to collaborate on a duo piece where we played with a nontraditional concept of being unable to occupy the same space. ...

duo slime shoot (flesh ghost)

slime photoshoot (because it seemed like a good idea at the time) for myles and i, shot in my home studio it was a lot more cold and uncomfortable than i thought it was going to be, and we only had the capacity to do one or two poses.
